Our Love to Dancers and Nordic Walkers kicked off 2020 by taking part in the New Year’s Day Parade through the streets of London.

Our participants joined the London Borough of Barnet to wow over 500,000 spectators as they lined the streets of the capital. Their dance performance was also shown on BBC News and London Live.

‘London Loves Life’ The theme of the Parade was ‘London Lives Life’ and our participants certainly showed that as they danced and walked alongside the Barnet float. There was a borough competition on the day of the Parade and our participants helped Barnet finish fifth out of 16 boroughs taking part.

As a result £6,000 went towards Barnet’s chosen charities – Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and Home Start.

In recognition of their achievements at the Parade, our participants were invited to Hendon Town Hall on Wednesday 26 February to receive a medal and thanks from Caroline Stock, the Mayor of Barnet.

Clare Bellchambers – Project Officer said: “This was the first time we have taken part in something like this and it was great fun and an amazing experience. The crowds cheered us as we danced along the streets of London and it was a great way to show what we do as part of the Love to Dance and Nordic Walking programmes we have running at Saracens Sport Foundation.”
