Go Forward

Go Forward is a proactive and impactful secondary school programme, whereby we improve the individual by creating opportunities both in and out of school. We change the lives of those who are at risk of a multitude of factors at school and home, as well as those in their local communities.

The aim of the Go Forward project is to increase pupil’s attendance, attitude to learning and aspirations. To achieve this, we appoint a member of staff to the school who will work with a group of the school’s most venerable pupils long-term. We give them goals to achieve and individualised intervention sessions that will ensure that their school journey is a positive one.

If you are interested in having the Go Forward project be a part of your school please get in touch with Jake Matthews jakematthews@saracens.net and Edward Taylor edwardtaylor@saracens.net

Farhad’s story:

Farhad is part of the Go Forward intervention group and struggled to attend online lessons at the start of January. Farhad enjoyed the opportunity to attend online intervention sessions with our Go Forward Project Officer and found it beneficial to discuss his lockdown concerns and frustrations as well as gain knowledge about how to access his online lessons through Google Classrooms.

“ I got so annoyed with Google Classrooms that I just left the sessions. Mr Matthews help me understand how to use the system and the importance of asking for help .”  – Farhad  Year 7

*Covid Update- During periods of lockdown the project adapted in the same way as the schools. We delivered online sessions and created video challenges to help keep the pupils engaged.*
